How the location code works

A location QR code holds latitude and longitude. Scanning it opens the default maps app centred on the point, which beats writing an address on a sign when the destination has no street number.

iOS handles the raw geo: scheme poorly. If your audience is mixed, tick the map-link fallback: it opens everywhere at the cost of depending on a maps website.

Questions

Should I use geo: or a map link?
geo: is the neutral standard and opens whichever maps app the phone prefers. The map link is more compatible on iOS but sends the user to a specific service.
Where do I find the coordinates?
Long-press the spot in any maps app; it shows decimal latitude and longitude you can paste here.
How precise should the numbers be?
Five decimal places is about one metre. More digits only make the code denser.
