How the url code works

A URL QR code is the workhorse of the format: the scanner reads a plain web address and the phone opens it in the browser. It works on every camera app shipped in the last decade, with no app to install on either end.

Shorter links produce sparser codes that scan faster from further away. If your address carries long tracking parameters, consider trimming them or using a short link before generating the code.

Questions

Does the QR code still work if I change the page later?
The code encodes the address, not the page. As long as the URL keeps resolving, the code stays valid — so keep the link stable rather than reusing it for a different page.
Do I need https://?
No. If you leave the protocol out we add https:// automatically, which is what phones expect.
How small can I print it?
As a rule of thumb, the printed code should be at least one tenth of the scanning distance. For a poster read from 2 m, print at 20 cm.
